Clip the moment, captions and all
Snagcast is a free app for Windows and Android that clips the part of a video you want, with its captions drawn into the picture, and shares it.
The captions can be the video's own, ones Snagcast made from the speech, or a translation in your language, or two languages at once. The clip goes to your Library, ready to share to the app your audience is on. On Windows, Snagcast can also post it to several sites for you.
How to
- Open the video in Snagcast and turn on captions in the language you want.
- Choose Clip and set where it starts and ends: Start and End under the video on Windows; drag the two ends on Android.
- Tick Draw into saved video, then choose Save clip.
- On the clip, choose Share and pick the app. On Windows, Post puts it on sites such as X, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube: write the text once, and Snagcast posts only when you choose Post now, on each site's own page, where you're signed in.
Free, or Pro
Clipping and sharing are free; a free clip carries a Snagcast watermark and ends with a 3-second card. Snagcast Pro (US$29.90, one payment, no subscription) leaves them off, and adds translation without limits and the most accurate speech models.
Questions
Can the clip have captions in two languages? Yes: tick both under Show, and both are drawn in. See two captions at once.
What if the video has no captions? Snagcast makes them from the speech, on your device. See captions for a video that has none.
Where does the clip go? To Snagcast's Library on your device. Its captions are saved beside it as .srt files too.
