What's new
Every Snagcast release, newest first. Snagcast tells you when an update is ready.
Android 0.1.42 · Windows 0.1.22
- Translate captions into 49 languages, up from 20: Bengali, Urdu, Persian, Marathi, Tamil, Malay, Tagalog, Romanian, Greek, Czech, Swedish, Hungarian, Hebrew, Belarusian, Bulgarian, Danish, Finnish, Slovak, Norwegian, Croatian, Catalan, Albanian, Lithuanian, Slovenian, Latvian, Estonian, Galician, Afrikaans and Icelandic are new.
- Snagcast Pro lists the languages it translates into, A to Z.
- Hebrew, Arabic, Persian and Urdu captions end on their left, punctuation included, over the video and in saved copies.
- An update's notice shows once and can be closed; Settings still offers the update.
- Windows: translated captions no longer repeat a phrase over and over, and the start screen shows the sites you visited last.
- Android: the start page shows the Snagcast icon beside its name.
Android 0.1.41 · Windows 0.1.21
- Try before you buy: every device gets 30 free minutes of the Standard speech model and 30 of translated captions, in place of the 7-day trial.
- Buy Snagcast Pro inside Snagcast: Stripe's checkout opens over the app and Pro turns on by itself. Windows can also pay in your browser, with Google Pay; Android's checkout is Chrome's own page.
- Pay in your own currency, and in your country's way where Stripe offers it, such as Kakao Pay, Pix or UPI.
- Settings shows your Snagcast Pro license ID, and Get Snagcast Pro turns Pro bought on this device before back on without paying again.
- A post of photos alone no longer offers CC, and on a page of many videos Save takes the one playing.
- Vimeo, Dailymotion, Bilibili and Twitch clips save better, and Vimeo, Internet Archive and Wikimedia saves get cleaner names.
- Windows: remove an address from the recent list, recent files say when they're missing, and captions work on streams that can't skip ahead.
- Android: deleting from the Library removes the copy in your Gallery too, and pages no longer reload over and over.
Android 0.1.40 · Windows 0.1.20
- Windows on Arm: Snagcast runs natively, with its own installer.
- Save on a page with several videos lists them on Windows, as on Android: tick one or several.
- Android: Save ▾ › Record as it plays records a clip of a player Snagcast can't fetch, with its sound.
- Android: share videos, photos and sounds to Snagcast from other apps, and they go into the Library.
- Saving a clip of a part already in the Library asks first: replace it, keep both, or cancel.
- Captions: a translation language that is the one spoken shows the spoken line; a site's own captions follow the spoken language; a thumbnail's hover preview is never captioned.
- Windows: Share… opens Windows' Share window, Open with lists Snagcast, and AMD and Qualcomm PCs draw captions in with their own hardware.
- Windows: a save that won't fit says how much more space it needs before it downloads, and after a crash Snagcast offers to send a report.
- Android: clip sounds and WebM or MKV videos, the Library reopens a video where you left it, Douyin saves, Export .srt saves a .vtt too, and a link opened while Snagcast starts is no longer lost.
Android 0.1.39 · Windows 0.1.19
- Saves are named by the video's title, and a video saved before says Already saved, with Save again.
- YouTube saves are much faster on Android, and YouTube no longer breaks over its ad-blocker message.
- CC › On is for the video on screen; Always on is for every video.
- Save takes the page's largest file, up to Quality; a page lists each video once, with its length.
- Floating ads go without hiding the site's own menus or videos.
- Windows: Ctrl+S saves, Twitch clips save, and Export .srt makes one file per language.
- Android: BBC videos play and save, and Back on the Library goes to Browse.
Android 0.1.38 · Windows 0.1.18
- Captions made once are ready wherever you watch that video again, and Save with captions keeps them beside the saved video.
- Captions are kept as they are made, in .srt files named by the speech model that made them.
- Caption size: Small, Medium or Large, on every platform.
- Shorter messages: each says what went wrong and one way to fix it.
- Phone: Recent sits above the site tiles on the start page.
- Phone: a finished save shows once in the Library, with a green dot until you have seen it.
- Windows: Post suggests a title that follows the video.
- Translation fixes, Traditional Chinese on Android among them.
Android 0.1.37 · Windows 0.1.17
- Try Snagcast Pro free for 7 days, in the app, with no card.
- Saves go on from where they stopped.
- CC is Off, On or Always on, on every platform.
- Captions for a player inside a frame, on every platform.
- A speech model not installed yet: Snagcast pauses the video, asks, installs it, then plays on.
- Windows: picture-in-picture, and the Library's Rename, Delete, Try again and Report a problem.
- Phone: tabs, Save as…, Quality, Save photos, and keyboard shortcuts.
- Android: captions translate with Firefox Translations where Google's cannot.
