A Language Reactor alternative: dual subtitles on any video, for one payment
Snagcast is a free app for Windows and Android that shows a video's line as spoken with its translation under it, for learning a language with the videos of the websites you open in it and your own video files.
Language Reactor is a browser extension that adds bilingual subtitles and study tools to Netflix and YouTube, and its Pro mode is a subscription. Snagcast is an app instead: it plays the video, uses its captions or makes them from the speech (100 spoken languages), and translates them into up to 96 (see each one), on your device. Checked on November 1, 2026, from Language Reactor's own pages (below).

- Study tools: a dictionary on every word, saved words, PhrasePump, a chat partner and export to Anki.
How to
- Open the video in Snagcast and turn on captions: Captions on Windows, CC on Android.
- In the caption settings, turn on Translate captions and choose your language under Translate to.
- Under Show, tick your language and Original. On a slower device, turn on Wait for captions so no line is missed.
Free, or Pro
Each phone and computer translates 30 minutes of video for free, with no account and no card. Snagcast Pro (US$29.90, one payment, no subscription) translates without limits, and into up to 5 languages at once on your computer.
